::onto the outdoors
I'm gaining a wire shelving piece for my back patio. If I remember correctly it's a darker green color. I'm debating on what color to paint it! Below is the debated inspiration piece:
I can't decide between a turquoise, a sunshine yellow or white. Thoughts?

::believe it!
This artist created her own "wallpaper". Check it out:

Believe it or not...she created this using regular, good ole-fashion, stickers. That's right...from the likes of Lisa Frank herself. Don't believe me?

Color me impressed! I can't even imagine the time it took to create the design and peel all those stickers. I bet she doesn't have fingerprints anymore.

::would you like fries with that?

Yes, ladies...it's time to take your orders. Soon I will be gracing the city of Atlanta, Savannah, Hilton Head and Charleston. We'll be making pit stops along the way to the likes of Ikea, Urban Outfitters, World Market and many others. If you're like me (read: cheap!) and HATE that Ikea won't sell it's textiles online...or you just hate paying that shipping cost...go online, make out a shopping list and hand it over! Consider me your personal shopper for a little bit :) You know you want to...

::a brief moratorium
I'm afraid I might be a bit absent for the next little bit. To give you a taste of what's going on:
1- Painted (or should I say repainted....woot!) the guest bedroom. I shamefully didn't test the paint the first go round and that baby blue stayed on those walls for a year. It was time to go. I'll try and get a picture up here sometime soon.
2- Also switched out the ceiling fan in the den! No more cherry wood and gold detailing!!
3- Shower this weekend. Should be lots of fun. I have to get the finishing touches, well, finished this week. I had some cute inspiration for party favors :D
Is anyone else LOVING this weather?! I have never once before been so happy to see the temps in the 90s. Gotta love that Memphis humidity. Enjoy your week!

::in memory
Well I don't know about all of you but this week was just insane...the kind of week where you don't get around to eating dinner until 8 or 9. It just flew by. My friend's father passed away on Wednesday. Her name is Brittany. I would ask that you please pray for her and her family this weekend. The visitation and funeral are today and tomorrow.

::summer reading
Since school's starting back up I decided to be nostalgic and 'reread' some of my high school favorites (I use the term reread very loosely here...I wasn't the stellar English student, sorry Mrs. Perry). I just finished Til We Have Faces and The Hobbit. I've started on The Great Gatsby today. So much different this time around. I say all that to get to this point. Remember way back when I told you guys about the cloth bound reproductions of the Penguin Classics?

So pretty. I love that they're done in all neutral metallics. So decadent. So fitting. I have all but 4 of these books. Maybe I'll do a "splurge a month" and buy one of these until my collection is complete!! (I only own one of these cloth bound lovelies btw...which is sad...)

Seems the same creator of these lovely covers has now done an F. Scott Fitzgerald series!!

::a pause
"What had I to look for if I lived? Is the world-this palace, this father, so much to lose? We have already had what would have been the best of our time. I must tell you something, Orual, which I never told to anyone...I have always-at least, ever since I can remember-had a kind of longing for death. Not that kind of longing. It was when I was happiest that I longed most. It was on happy days when we were up there on the hills, the three of us, with the wind and the sunshine...Do you remember? The color and the smell and looking across at the Grey Mountain in the distance?
And because it was so beautiful, it set me longing, always longing. Somewhere else there must be more of it. Everything seemed to be saying, Psyche come! But I couldn't come and I didn't know where I was to come to. It almost hurt me. I felt like a bird in a cage when the other birds of its kind are flying home.
Are these things so evil as they seemed? The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing-to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from...my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back. All my life the god of the Mountain has been wooing me."
-Til We Have Faces, C.S. Lewis
If ever the day should come where I could adequately express my thoughts and feelings on this...

I'm sure you're tired of hearing me drone on about all things decorative. Let's hear from you...what do you like best about this space? What do you like least? :)

::too many options
I've tossed around the idea of having my dad make me a kitchen table. I seem to having varying opinions of what I want. :) Thoughts?
I think I like a little bit more of a rustic look. This might be too light colored?
This reminds me of the Parsons desk at West Elm. I love how simple the shape is. No fuss.
I also considered something more like this bench with the slatted top. The only problem I could forsee is trying to set dishes on an uneven surface. I'm sure you could always fill in with glass or something to make a smooth top, but I don't know if it's worth it...
You can tell from this picture too well, but I love the legs on this table. Reminds me of the 50's for some reason. I might want a little more of a steadier look.
This is a beautiful table. It's no telling what this cost though. It was pictured in Elle Decor so I'm assuming that's one gigantic piece of reclaimed wood. All I can think is $$$$$ Oh, and I also hate those chairs with it.
This might be the one I'm leaning towards. It of course is the smallest picture and the hardest to see, but I love how thick the wood is and how the legs start closer to the middle and slant outwards.
The next two are very similiar in shape. Like the "Parsons table" previously, I just love how simple it is. The only thing I'm not sure about with these is that the table will seat 6 and with the legs of the table being so close to the middle I don't know, functionally, how that would work. I would imagine the middle seats would have some serious competition for leg space...

Like a habitat for humanity recycled materials lot? I'll have to do some searching.
