::one of these things

For those who remember this Sesame Street song...I often think of it whenever something like this happens:

"One of these things is not like the other..."

::i want. i love. i have.

I want: This table from World Market. While we're wishing, throw in a couple of those chairs as well.

I love: This serving ware from Bed, bath, and Beyond. Got the tray from this collection and I cannot wait to use it. It's so pretty, I just keep trying to find places to put it out while it's not in use.

I have: Absolutely no will power. :) You see that list in the previous post? Well how much of that got done this weekend? Not one thing. Hah. How's that for productive. I did rearrange the TV stand, but that's it. Eh, we all need a lazy weekend every now and then. So, what did I do instead of painting? Shopping!

But hey, I got a wall hook for the laundry room! I guess that's one off the list. I'm not a completely failure ;)

::dreaming

Hope you all have a good weekend. The to-do list has grown exponentially since last weekend (*sigh) but it's all self-inflicted so I can't complain :) The list includes:

- paint laundry room (yes...that's right...)
- finish out letters in kitchen with a metallic silver finish
- change out the kitty's mat in the laundry room to match the new paint ;)
- find something to put on the top of the cabinets in the laundry room
- get one more wall hook for in there as well
- get paint and top coat put on mystery object and get that put up
- clean the baseboards
- maybe start painting the trim (hear the enthusiasm just drain out of my body)
- plant the rest of the plants (yes, that's right...I get to about one per weekend. What can I say, lately my time has not been my own as of late....but my friend's kitchen is now painted and looks awesome!)
- sleep somewhere in there
-put an antique finish on guest bedroom furniture and switch out the hardware (the eyeball knobs are only so cute...)

Well, that's the beginning of it for now. Makes me tired looking at it. At least none of this is necessary so I'll get around to it in a lazy fashion :)

Today inspiration is:

I'm thinking about using our leftover fence wood to make this headboard. Thoughts?

::not that you asked ;)

Lee,

You mentioned earlier about wanting to change up the color scheme in your living room to a more calming color palette. I ran across these 2 images the other day and when I saw them I immediately thought of you. I love the color palette in this first room (but it might be a little more to my taste than yours...)

This looked a little more like what you already have but toned down.

Again, not that you asked for my opinion ;) I just saw these and thought of you.

I've got a gift card and it's burning a hole in my wallet. Apparently my summer colors will be yellow, gray and turquoise.

::by george i think she's done it!

I Finally finished up the patio chairs this weekend. They took longer than I anticipated, but the finished product was well worth the time. :)

Before:

During: I feel it necessary to inform you about Mr. B. He is a very needy cat. And by needy, I do mean crazy. If he's not in the same room that you are, he'll just sit at the closed door and wail. I was working on this whenever Aaron was asleep, so when kitty decided to cry at the door...something had to give. Sometimes I'll let him out with me while I'm working on something if I can keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't wander off too far. But this project was a little more involved. What's a girl to do?

Before you claim pet abuse, know that after being in the car 2-3 minutes he was up on the back dash totally passed out in the sun. Needy kitty. *_*

After:

They look SO pretty next to the firepit and up against the brick. Yay! I'm so excited to have seating outside now. Now I'm looking for a small table to put in between the chairs to hold drinks and stuff. Right now the front runner is this beauty.

Have you guys seen any little mosaic tables for sale lately?

::yay!

I finally got around to staining the patio chairs. It took WAY longer than anticipated, but in the end it's really going to be worth it. They're looking beautiful! I'll get a couple pictures this weekend. We've (and I use the term we loosely here...let's be honest, Aaron does most (all) the yard work around here) gotten around to transplanting a few bushes in the front flower bed and started mulching yesterday. It looks SO much better. :) We'll finish the mulching today hopefully and I'll plant all those Aldi plants today as well.
Oh...and apparently Mums are perennials. Did not know this. I told Aaron I wanted to dig up ours and replace it (which I still do) but when he went to look at it, it's growing back! Who knew?
Also got another surprise in the works. Couple coats of paint and some coating later, I'll be sure to let you in on it. I'll just let you know it looks awesome to start with!
Thinking about yard/estate sales tomorrow morning as well. I might need to start cutting these plans a little shorter on the weekends. At some point the laundry has to get done ;) Enjoy the LOVELY weather!!

::yes please!

Anthropologie has created a design book. I don't think I've been as excited about a book like this since Domino released theirs. They also are having a decorating class in 20 of their stores on March 24th. (Yes, Nashville is one...I won't lie...I'm thinking about it). Class aside, this book will be mine!

::worth 1,000 words

This is today:

I'm ready for Spring weather to come and stay and I'm in desperate need of some caffeine. This time change is killing me, people!

::a glimpse of the future

Ok...for any future wedding shower/girl baby shower that I throw..this will be the mood board.

Ladies...it's time to get busy!

::my do list

I don't know what the opposite of "honey do" list is. What is it called when it's your own to do list? A to do list? :) I just called it my do list. Friday is here and the forecast for tomorrow is just lovely. So, what's a girl to do?

1- Stop by the wood work shop and pick up some General Finish 450 paint and top coat for the two deck chairs. Yes, I really am going to do it this weekend. Hopefully.
2- Plant the few (or way too may) bulbs we bought from aldi. If we don't have enough pots, buy some of those too.
3- Start painting the trim in the house. Wah wahhhh. Can't say I'm looking forward to this or in a rush to get to it. The only reason I would wait is to see what color we paint the stairs. I want it to match the trim. Oh yah, I'm ripping up the carpet on our stairs and painting them sometime soon!! I'll make sure to take pictures.
4- Baby shower fun on Sunday.
5- Speaking of Sunday, Target has a set of new spring dresses from all their past designers' collaborations coming out. I'll see you there!

Hope you all have a Great weekend! Enjoy Saturday...it's supposed to rain Sunday. Boo.

::on sale

Fabric.com has all clearance fabric for an additional 20% off. They also have free shipping on any order over $35 (not hard to spend there).

I'm debating whether or not to get this to put in my yellow frame in the kitchen. The fabric is an open weave aside from the velvety/chenille-ish white stripe.

Have no idea what I would use this for, but it's really cute.

And we all know Andrea loves the quatrefoil. Yes...this is what I already bought in green, but I sure do love teal. Maybe some outdoor pillows?

Thought this was cute. I immediately thought of accessory fabric for my mom's guest room, but taking a second look this would be really cute in a nursery as well.

This reminded my of my aunt. It's actually flower petals but it looked like coral to me. Good color combination.

Who doesn't love a good Amy Butler print. And I don't know that I've seen too much of it on sale. But I can't say I've searched far and wide either. ;)

This print reminded me of Lee. Would make a lovely throw pillow for your couches. :)

And this last one isn't on sale. Alas, you Amy Butler. I do Love this though. Thinking about using it in the guest room. Hmm...I could always "need" something to bump me up to the $35 mark, eh?

::i want. i love. i have.

I want: Keune Blend Sea Salt Spray. My hairdresser used it the last time she did my hair. Amazing.

I love: Yarn balls. Such a cute way to use up the rest of the yarn that just didn't make it on the scarf. I'm thinking about making some of these to use in my vase once the hydrangeas die. Tear.

I have: Started reading the Pretty Little Liars series. I kinda wish I had started it before seeing the show, but it's been pretty good so far. A little more 'teen' that I could do without...but not dissapointed!

3.04.2011

::well wishes

Happy Friday everyone. If we get any moments without rain this weekend, I hope to stain my outdoor furniture. We'll see if I actually get around to it. : )

::doesn't take much

My parents bought a new freezer and to make room that had to lose an enclosed bookcase. She had room in a spare bedroom and decided to showcase a collection she had instead of using it as a bookcase. We brought it in the room and it just looked really dark. (You can't tell from the picture because of the flash, but it's a deep walnut color.) Her collection was a smaller pieces that could've easily gotten lost. I suggested putting some fabric in the back to lighten it up a bit and make everything else in the now "cabinet" stand out. Off to Hancocks we go.
She picked out a darling, light pink, floral pattern (fits really well with the room). After some sweat, clever maneuvering, and tiniest little nails you've ever seen we've gotten it finished.

Apologies for no before picture. Didn't think about it til after we were finished. But here it is now...

Lovely.
