::pic update

Ok...here's to fill you in on my Christmas decor (though I know it's a bit late). I decided to make my own garland for my Christmas tree this year. I got the idea from (I think) West Elm. They had a designer make garland completely out of twine (wrapped around wire) to make stars. I thought it was cute, but it needed a little sparkle. So, I make my own stars from pipe cleaner (I can't remember the other term for it) and twine. I was actually really pleased with how it came out. Sorry for the sad picture...

For my Asian themed Christmas party, I bought 12 paper lanterns and a pom kit from Martha Stewart to hang from the ceiling in my den. The result=

And here's the new, beloved coffee table. Such an improvement :) (Although, I do have to say thank you to my mother for letting me have her old one. No coffee table at all would have been much worse!)

::well done

This weekend was beyond busy. I'm exhausted, but I wanted to share my good fortune with you. I've been scouring the internet/everywhere in a 30 mile radius of my house to find some furniture. I'm pretty picky about the style/cost (more so the style than cost...sorry hubs) but the day after Christmas I struck gold. I went to Target with the intent to find nightstands for the master bedroom and instead wound up with this (mind you it was at the second Target we went to...):

I got to move the other TV stand we had back upstairs (it makes the room look not so "this is all my leftover furniture...doesn't it look so great together") AND I got this little gem on sale for $179.99

SO...we decide to head on over to the West Elm outlet...where I find this:

I got this dresser in a honey color finish to put in our office. Whenever I do get new nightstands for our bedroom, we're going to hurt for the dresser space. It's SO pretty AND I got this on sale...for $149.99. That's right! The furniture was 75% off. Woot!

And as if that wasn't fantastic enough...we walked over to the PB outlet where they were having a door buster sale. Any coffee table in the store was $99. You better believe I bought one. I can't find a picture of it, but I'll take one for you to see it.

The best part of all of this was Aaron was asleep all day. (My parents helped move the furniture to my house) I went ahead and put the TV stand together (yes, by myself...be proud) and by the time I finished with that I had to leave to meet up with friends from out of town. So, I'm gone and Aaron wakes up to find a tv stand, a full coffee table box, a box for the glass top (which he thought was another piece of furniture), and a dresser when he walked into our office. He said he was just LIVID. :) All I get was this text message "I can see now why you didn't wake me up before you left." haha...All was good in the end though. He was not only impressed with the total cost of everything (< $500) but he also said it was furniture that he would've picked out.

Oh happy day!

Have a lovely weekend. Mine is filled with parties/events until Tuesday. Hopefully I'll see you before then. If I have the time, I'm going to try and make a last minute Christmas gift ideas list for those hard to shop for individuals. We'll see ;)

::all the more reason

To STAY in Memphis! Whoo hoo...not only are we getting Anthropologie AND Mellow Mushroom, I just found out that Gigi's Cupcakes is coming here too.

Poor Nashville...all the reasons to go visit are soon to be here. There's always Urban Outfitters, I suppose.

::let there be light

I was thinking about changing up the light in our hallway. I wanted something a little dramatic but simple (what can I say...I like contradictory home decor). I haven't really actively looked for anything, it's just been on my mind. I saw this today and thought it was right up my alley.
