This has been a long week. In many ways. Thus, the lack of posts. Just checking in to say hi. I'm throwing a Halloween party on Saturday. I'll try to take pictures of the decor. It looks pretty good if I say so myself. Hope you're doing well...

::the little things
I made pot roast on Sunday for the first time. I've been told it's nearly impossible to mess up pot roast, but as I've never cooked with beef before, I was nervous. It was Wonderful! Apparently you can't mess it up! Aaron said it was a little dry but I thought it was perfect. I don't like my food to saucy. So yay.
Put up some of the Halloween decorations last night...after a last minute trip to Walmart at 9:30. Yes, I had to be at work this morning. *_* Everything looks good. I'll have to take a picture. I also got string lights for the back patio. It's looks all festive and homey now. It's cute.
So, I found an etsy shop who sells the Cutest fabrics: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=61802&page=1 But you're not allowed to buy any, because I'm taking it all. I'm thinking of using the Pussywillow fabric (below) for the lampshade. Now if I can only find a drum shade....

::at the risk of sounding selfish
I've made a Christmas wish list at http://www.myregistry.com/. Just type in my name at the top left of the screen.
This is only due to the requests from several family members...so please don't think me selfish. ;) (Oh, and the furniture on there...isn't really a suggestion for people to buy...more so, if you'd like to get a gift card to that place...I don't expect you to buy me $200 tables and whatnot.)

::lamp shade
Yes, I know....2 posts in one day. Well, we're just that busy at work. Anyways- I'm thinking of redoing the lampshade on the lamp in our upstairs room. The base of the lamp is glossy, sunshine yellow. I'm going to buy a better fitting lampshade (probably in a cylindrical shape) and can't decide if I want to cover the whole shade with fabric like below:

or if I want to buy ribbon and cover it like below:
What do you think? I wouldn't choose a yellow fabric (that would be too much), but I do like the pattern on the fabric above. The ribbon look is interesting though it would take longer to do it. Thoughts? Have you ever done this before? Tips?

- Beautiful weather (aka: Sunshine!)

- Carmel coated apples
- Halloween costumes
- New friends
- Vacation days
- Aaron
- The excitement of upcoming holidays
- New babies (as opposed to old babies...j/k)
- Sweaters and boots
- My home
There is always just a never ending list of things to be thankful for, no matter the situation you're in. What are you grateful for?

So this is the second day in a row that I haven't washed my hair. Is it bad that I don't care...
Been learning alot lately, which has been really fun. A thought:
- God allows us to have periods of loneliness. Take Adam for example. Once God said it wasn't good for him to be alone and he needed a helper, he made him name the animals. He didn't immediately create Eve. Now why would God decide to bless Adam with a helpmate and then decide to wait to do it? Adam had a task at hand. God wanted Adam to name the animals. Could he have done it with Eve there? Probably. Did it take Adam a long time to do this, thus trudging on for a While before having a friend? Probably. Did God want Adam to finish his job and complete his obedience to Christ before sending him a blessing? Yes. I'll never understand God or his ways completely...but it was just a good example of God allowing loneliness in some one's life.
Oh, and this is the perfect kitchen. I wish my cabinets were white. *sigh

Thus, it was a full weekend which did, indeed, spill over into Monday. Friday and Saturday morning were the conference. It was good. Hope you got to go. Saturday afternoon was lunch with the hubs and wedding shower. Saturday night was errands and a stop by at the in-laws. Sunday was cleaning the house top to bottom. (All while Aaron was asleep, by the way.) I was actually dusting in our bedroom (where he was sleeping) and I dropped something, so he woke up. In an effort not to wake him further, I proceeded to jump down to the floor flat on my stomach, so Aaron wouldn't know I was in there. lol. You should've seen it. I also went grocery shopping, picked up a sweater, went running, cooked dinner, and vacuumed. In between, I caught up on a couple episodes of my tv shows.
Monday came around. Of course, the banks are closed, but the stock market is not. I trudge up to work. At 10:40 my boss starts walking around and tells me to leave, we're not busy! Woot! I ended up going to lunch and shopping with mom where I also got some great deals on things I needed (aka-work pants). Made dinner again...I know, 2 days in a row...go me! Still didn't get to sleep until about 11:30.
Now I'm just really tired. Hopefully things will slow down a little.

I LOVE this weather. Fall has always been my favorite season and to get ready I've been doing the following:
- Searching for those perfect crock-pot recipes. Made vegetable soup yesterday (aka: the Only thing I know how to make in the crock pot). I've found several recipes online and I plan to steal my mother's gumbo recipe...Can't wait to try these out. I found a recipe for an Apple-Coconut Crisp. I just about started drooling when I read it. It makes alot though, so I'll need to invite people over to eat it. :)
- Adding pieces to my fall wardrobe. It might be because of the economy, but I've found some great deals lately. Coupons always help (thanks mom!). Already got 3 new pair of boots, a handful of sweaters, a new leather jacket (woot!!), and a few others things. There are still things left to get...but that's for another paycheck. Don't want the hubs freaking out ;)
- Busting out those pumpkin scented candles. (Cinnamon scented are next!!)
- Getting those fall decorations out. I know I've already mentioned it on here, so I won't belabor the fact. I will say that my MIL planted beautiful yellow and white mums in a planter which will be showcased in my backyard and there are 2 new pumpkins by the front door.
- Wearing house shoes. It was actually cold enough last night in the house that I wore both sleeves AND my house shoes. Yay!
