::book survey

I stole this from Tiffany:

1. Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback? Any kind of papeback. I don't care for hardback books. They think they're better than everyone else.

2. Amazon or brick and mortar? Yes

3. Barnes & Noble or Borders? I like Barnes and Noble.

4. Bookmark or dogear? Bookmark a book, dogear a magazine

5. Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random? At my house? lol...it's wherever you can find it, good luck

6. Keep, throw away, or sell? Keep for sure. I plan on having an extensive library once I'm older. (Sell the textbooks though)

7. Keep dustjacket or toss it? Keep, but with much disdain. I hate them and always complain but am too scared to toss.

8. Read with dustjacket or remove it? I guess I usually just leave it on.

9. Short story or novel? Both. Short stories are great for work reading, but novels always make you feel accomplished once you're finished.

10. Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)? I guess I would prefer a collection, but I would read both.

11. Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket? Harry Potter wins at life.

12. Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks? It depends on how into the book I am. If I don't care so much, I'll stop reading when I'm tired.

13. “It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”? Both. Honestly, I can't ever remember reading a book that started with eitherone of those.

14. Buy or Borrow? Buy always.

15. New or used? Used, unless it's the same price as a new.

16. Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse? Recommendations or browsing. I'm not much of a review person. Just because someone else I don't know liked or didn't like it doesn't have much pull with me.

17. Tidy ending or cliffhanger? I agree with Tiffany. Cliffhangers are good, but only in part of a series. Otherwise, I want a nice ending.

18. Morning reading, afternoon reading or nighttime reading? Afternoon work reading or in bed reading.

19. Stand-alone or series? Both, but generally it's stand alone

20. Favorite series? C.S. Lewis' The Space Triology (is that a series?)

21. Favorite children’s book? Harry Potter or Oh the Places you'll Go (Dr. Suess)

22. Favorite book of which nobody else has heard? Most of my friends don't read. So, they wouldn't have heard of anything. But those that do would most likely have heard of them all. (I generally stick with classics). Umm, maybe Flappers and Philosopers by F. Scott Fitzgerald?

23. Favorite books read last year? I don't even remember what all I read last year. Umm, Catcher in the Rye, the last Harry Potter book, This Side of Paradise (this year), wow...I really can't remember them.

24. Favorite books of all time? Perelandra, The Great Gatsby, Brave New World, This Side of Paradise, Paradise Lost, Mere Christianity, The World's Last Night

25. Least favorite book you finished last year? Umm, I have a bunch I haven't finished...The History of Love, On Royalty, Sacred Pathways...

26. What are you reading right now? The Age of Innocence (I'm having a hard time, I won't lie)

27. What is your secret guilty pleasure book(s)? I don't have one, but if I had to choose one, I would start reading the Gossip Girl series

28. What book have you always wanted to read but not had time to? The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. The size alone will make you want to scream and run away. I will though...eventually...

29. What book do you hate the most that you've read all the way through? I've never read all the way through a book I hate. Why bother.

30. What are you reading next? East of Eden or The Beautiful and Damned.
